Smoking can cause serious medical problems. In the case of newly released from jail Diane McCloud, it caused her a failing heart that can function for only six months more if not replaced. She blew up her own chance for a new heart though when she refused to quit her puffing habit.
McCloud was put to jail for stealing. Judge Francis Ricigliano of Long Island relieved her of her 15-month sentence though when it was known that her heart problem worsened.
However, McCloud’s doctor said that she doesn’t want to quit smoking. The doctor also informed the District Attorney’s Office that she did not show up on her medical schedules and drug tests. As a result, she did not have the heart transplant.
The information simply angered Judge Ricigliano. However, another chance was given to McCloud. She has until 10th of June to completely stop smoking.
