The electric cigarette is a smokeless battery operated cigarette that gives smokers the satisfaction of smoking a real cigarette but without all of the negative health issues that go with smoking tobacco cigarettes. Although the electric cigarette companies claim that they are allowed to be smoked inside of the airplanes, the best thing to do is ask the stewardess. Half of the time, if smokers smoke the electric cigarette on the airplane, no one will probably know anyways because there is no smell and the vapor cloud disappears within seconds but it is always a good idea to ask. You can smoke them in the airports but if security asks you to stop smoking you can tell them that it is an electric cigarette but again, they probably have stopped someone in the past and already know what it is . Either way, the electric cigarette is becoming so popular that they will become a household item very soon and smokers wont have to worry about even be questioned about them anymore.

The makers of it claim you can, since it’s not a tobacco product, nothing is lit, and you’re not actually smoking. So you’re not breaking any laws by using it on a plane or in an airport.
However, I wouldn’t recommend it, simply because you’re bound to be hassled. It appears to others that you are smoking (especially with the one that resembles a real cigarette), and someone will certainly question it.
Yes, they provide a card that describes the whole process – what it is and how it works. But I don’t think it’s worth the bother.
I have one of them, and I don’t normally use it in an area where it will attract attention and force me to explain everything.
