Does Vapor From Electric Cigarettes Set Off Dorm Room Smoke Detectors?

Since the electric cigarettes are basically smokeless, there have been a lot of questions whether it will set of smoke detectors in your home or dorm room in college. We are going to help answer some questions about this subject and help and provide you with the best answer and provide video testimonial electric cigarette review of some of the most popular electric cigarette called the Solar Cigarette.

Just ordered an electronic cigarette to help me stop smoking and was wondering if it would set off a normal college dorm room detector or does the vapor just do nothing?

Depending on what type of smoke detector you have, some smoke detectors will not go off and the more newer ones will react to the smokeless vapor that the electric cigarette produces. The best way to find out is to test it by blowing some vapor at the smoke detector.

If you blow the vapor directly into the smoke detector at close range it may go off but our testers were smoking in a room with a smoke detector present and didn’t have the smoke alarm go off at all. The theory is that the vapor is so minute that you will literally have to blow the vapor into the smoke alarm in order to make it go off.

Nope, I got one of those too, smoke it indoors near smoke detectors all the time. But just an FYI, they wont really help you stop smoking. They help if you’re in a place where you can’t smoke and really need to, but they are nowhere near as satisfying as a real cigarette.

No, only smoke will set off the detectors. The vapor is only water and nicotine. Me and my boyfriend have some of the Blu e-cigs and we’ve smoked them in restaurants, movie theaters, clubs, etc with no problems.

I have actually tested this. For most smoke detectors it will not. However some of the newer more sensitive smoke detectors will. I would recomend just blowing some vapor into it to see what happens. If it goes off it will not be known as to why since there is no oder. Also I beg to differ. I was a 11/2 pack per day smoker for 18 years. I now us ecigs only and made the transition over the weekend with no regrets and no looking back. I use the 2nd generation Solar Cigarette which is the favorite for most vapers. I have been vaping for 3 years. I will include some links in my sources you might be interested in.
